Mina's Shelf

Organised by routine step, not by brand. Every entry says who should skip it, because that is usually the more useful half of a recommendation.

    Where I would spend first

If you are going to buy one thing above cleanser and sunscreen, make it this step. A first essence goes on damp skin before anything else and changes how everything after it absorbs. It is also the step people skip longest and regret.

Skip if your skin is already comfortable and you are adding products out of boredom rather than need.

  2. 02  /  Serum

    One active, four weeks

Serums are where most routines go wrong, because people add three at once and learn nothing. Pick one, give it a month, and judge it on how your skin feels rather than how the bottle looks.

Skip if you are already running an active at night and your barrier is unsettled. Fix the barrier first.

  3. 03  /  Sunscreen

The one you will actually reapply

Texture decides whether sunscreen gets used, not the number on the tube. Test one on skin that is already warm and slightly damp, because that is the condition you will be in at two in the afternoon.

Skip nothing here. This is the step that does the most and costs the least.

When you want to look around

Some days you are not solving a problem, you are shopping. This is a broad K-beauty skincare page rather than a specific recommendation, so treat it as a shelf to walk past rather than a prescription.

Skip if you already know what you need. Browsing is how routines get crowded.

  5. 05  /  Hair

The step nobody counts as skincare

Scalp is skin. If your hairline breaks out or your scalp is tight after washing, the problem usually starts here rather than in your moisturiser.

Skip if your scalp is comfortable. This is a fix, not a routine addition.

How this list is chosen

Only retailers SeoulDesk has an approved affiliate relationship with appear here, and only where the category matches something the desk actually writes about. Where a link goes to a browse page rather than a single product, it is labelled as a browse page. Nothing is listed because a brand asked.
